U.S. Navy Lieutenant Commander Andy Baldwin, M.D., 33, is an Undersea Medical Officer, Ironman triathlete, Navy Diver, and humanitarian currently serving as a Family Medicine Resident at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton in California. Prior to his move west he worked in Washington, D.C. at the Navy's Bureau of Medicine and Surgery as an Ambassador for Navy Medicine. Andy's projects include working with the U.S. Surgeon General combatting childhood obesity through the program "Healthy Youth for a Healthy Future", helping families of fallen soldiers through his foundation Got Your Back Network, and teaming with World Vision in running the Comrades Ultramarathon to secure sponsorships for children in need in Africa, Haiti and other impoverished areas of the world.
Andy has won humanitarian awards from Triathlete and Competitor Magazine for his participation on a military mission in Laos, where he treated over 600 Laotians in remote mountain villages. Among his numerous acknowledgements, Dr. Baldwin has been honored on the Washington D.C. Most Influential People under 40 list in 2009 and 2010, Outside Magazine's Top 100 Influential People of the World list in 2006 for the humanitarian work he did in Laos and Vietnam, and awarded the 2009 National Medal of Honor by the Daughters of the American Revolution for his service work. Andy is an accomplished triathlete, community leader, motivator, and advocate for service in our world.
